Working with the Police and other authorities, and it has enforcement powers with which to accomplish this. Security Officers are required to hold a licence from the SIA if they are to operate at any commercial organisation's premises and this is not optional.

The enforcement of the Act is a vital element in regaining consumer confidence. As investigations are unfolding and prosecutions resulting, other criminal offences are simultaneously being discovered, benefit fraud as a typical example.
